Newborn baby bottle gift sets, compared

Overview

A newborn baby bottle gift set is a few bottles, some nipples and often a brush, boxed together. The 12 sets we compared cost $39.99 to $99.99, or $8 to $30 a bottle. What really differs is the material, the sizes, the nipple flows and how much of the box is extras.

Glass or plastic In Babylist's 2026 survey of almost 7,000 parents, 50% said they favor glass bottles and 42% plastic or silicone. [1]

Small first For the first days, the CDC suggests starting a formula-fed baby on 1 to 2 ounces every 2 to 3 hours. [2] The big bottles in a set can wait a few months.

Easy on the extras Bottle warmers, wipe warmers and bottle sterilizers topped the same survey's list of things parents probably didn't need. [1] Three of the 12 sets below include a warmer or sterilizing gear.

Babies get a say Some babies refuse a particular bottle. A smaller set, or one with a gift receipt, is the easier gift to get right.

We rechecked every row on October 17, 2026, on the linked page, using the price shown there without coupons. Per bottle is the price divided by the complete bottles, so a set full of extras looks dearer per bottle than it is. Sets change often, so check before you buy.

Dr. Brown's All-In-One 11: 7 Level 1 (slow), 2 Level 2, 2 Level 3 5 (1 bottle brush, 4 cleaning brushes) Bottle warmer, 5 microwave steam bags Sippy bottle, formula pitcher, dispenser, 3 pacifiers

Three things stood out once the boxes were laid side by side.

Only 5 of the 12 sets include a bottle brush, the one extra the CDC asks for: a clean brush used only for feeding items. [16] Three include a bottle warmer, a sterilizer or sterilizer bags, and warmers and sterilizers topped the list of things Babylist parents said they didn't need. [1]

Where a set says which nipple goes where, the big bottles get a faster one: in the Hegen, Lifefactory, MAM and Pigeon sets, a newborn starts on the small bottles and the big ones wait. Our own 8 oz Duo ships with Stream, which the box marks 3+ months.

And flow names don't line up across brands. Level 1, size 0, SS and stage 1 are each brand's own scale, which is why we keep a chart of bottle nipple sizes by brand. Spare nipples have to come from the same brand as the bottles.

How to choose

  • Lowest price per bottle: Philips Avent's Natural Response set and Dr. Brown's Narrow set, both $8 a bottle in plastic.
  • Glass: Philips Avent's glass set is the cheapest glass here, at $11.99 a bottle. Dr. Brown's, Pigeon and Lifefactory run $16.25 to $17.50, and ours is $22.50 to $23.75. Among Babylist parents who prefer glass, Philips Avent was the favorite brand, with 22% of the vote. [1]
  • Sleeves: Philips Avent's glass set, Dr. Brown's glass set and Lifefactory put silicone sleeves in the box.
  • Silicone: Comotomo's set is all silicone and covers three flows. Nanobébé mixes silicone bottles with breast milk bottles.
  • Small and simple: Hegen's starter kit is two bottles and two storage lids, the highest price per bottle here at $30.
  • Lots of extras: Dr. Brown's All-In-One adds a bottle warmer and a formula pitcher, and Nanobébé adds a sterilizer and a drying rack. Worth asking first whether they'd use them.
  • Breastfeeding parents: a small set with slow nipples is often all they need at the start.

Tip

Bottles aren't the only gift that gets used every day. Our list of practical baby shower gifts parents actually use covers sleep sacks, size-up pajamas, burp cloths and more, with prices.

Why a smaller set is easier to get right

Parents learn which bottle their baby likes by trial and error. We read every post in nine parenting subreddits from July to September 2026 (57,399 posts) and about 60,300 What to Expect and BabyCenter thread titles from 2024 to 2026, plus the comments on 94 busy threads (6,425 comments).

About 65 of those threads were some version of a parent asking which bottles everyone else uses. The replies kept circling the same problem. Babies take to one bottle and not another, and some parents went through several brands before one worked. One parent, many brands in, summed it up as "none are right."

These counts are a rough signal of how often parents raise a topic, not search volume. For a gift, the takeaway is plain: two to four bottles, a gift receipt, or the exact set on their registry.

If the baby won't take a bottle at all, our guide to a breastfed baby refusing the bottle has a one-week plan. And how many baby bottles you need depends on how they'll feed.

Building your own feeding gift

  1. Two to four small bottles. Around 5 oz, all from one brand.
  2. Spare nipples from the same brand. Nipples usually fit only their own brand's bottles. Pick a slow flow for a newborn.
  3. A bottle brush. The CDC suggests keeping one just for feeding items. [16]
  4. Burp cloths. The AAP suggests burping a bottle-fed baby every 2 to 3 ounces, so they go through a few a day. [17]
  5. A gift receipt. Some babies take a while to accept a bottle, and some never warm to a particular one.

Our set: the Duo

We make one of the sets in the table, so read this part knowing that.

The Duo is a 2-pack of The Wrapped Glass Bottle and a 2-pack of The Glass Bottle, in the same size. It's $90 for 5 oz with Sip nipples, from birth, or $95 for 8 oz with Stream nipples, from 3 months. That's $22.50 or $23.75 a bottle, near the top of the table.

  • The Wrapped Glass Bottle: borosilicate glass with food-grade silicone molded on, thicker at the base. It's designed to soften drops and to hold the glass together if it breaks.
  • The Glass Bottle: plain borosilicate glass, and the one we suggest for warming.
  • What touches the milk: only glass and food-grade silicone. The collar and cap are plastic and don't touch the milk.
  • Nipples later: four flows named by pace, Drop, Sip, Stream and Rapid, in $10 2-packs.

It arrives as our two regular 2-pack boxes, with no gift box, brush or warmer. For a newborn, pick the 5 oz. A subscription can also start from the Duo, sending fresh nipples every two months until the baby's first birthday.

If the baby isn't taking to the bottle, the parents can email us within 30 days of delivery. That's our Baby Love Guarantee: feeding help first and, where it fits, a free nipple in a different flow. If that still doesn't work, the bottle purchase can be refunded, and nothing needs to be sent back.

Frequently asked questions

What should a newborn bottle gift set include?

Two to four small bottles, nipples in a slow flow from the same brand, and a brush. Only 5 of the 12 sets we checked include a brush, so you may need to add one.

Are glass bottles a good baby gift?

Half the parents in Babylist's 2026 survey favor glass. If you're not sure what they'd like, check the registry first.

How much does a baby bottle gift set cost?

From $39.99 to $99.99 in our table, or $8 to $30 a bottle. The glass sets start at $59.95, which is $11.99 a bottle.

What if the baby won't take the bottles in the set?

It happens, and it's why a small set, a gift receipt or a registry purchase is the easier gift. If a breastfed baby refuses every bottle, see our guide to a breastfed baby refusing the bottle.

Can a newborn use the big bottles in a set?

Not at first. Several sets put a faster nipple on the big bottles, and the CDC suggests 1 to 2 ounces a feed in the first days.

Is a bottle warmer a good gift?

Often not. Bottle warmers and sterilizers topped Babylist's 2026 list of things parents probably didn't need, and our guide on how to warm a glass baby bottle covers whether milk needs warming at all.

Does the Ronini Duo come in a gift box?

No. It arrives as our two regular 2-pack boxes, so add your own wrapping or a card.
