Cleaning & care.
Wash every time. Sanitize once a day while your baby is under 2 months. New nipples every 2 months. That's most of it.
Every answer here is checked by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, the clinical credential for infant feeding. Where our IBCLC’s guidance differs from a published source, the answer says so.
Step 1
Before the first feed.
- Check the boxEach 2-pack has 2 bottles, 2 nipples already in place (Sip on the 5 oz, Stream on the 8 oz), 2 collars, 2 caps and a user manual.
- Take it all apartNipple out of the collar, cap off. The venting tube too, if you have one.
- Clean and sanitize onceBefore the first use, as the manual says. Bottles, collars and caps: boil for 5 minutes, use a steam sterilizer, or run the dishwasher's sanitize cycle with heated drying. Nipples and venting tubes: boil for 5 minutes or steam.
- Cool and air-dryLet every part dry fully before you put it together.
- Put it togetherSeat the nipple flat in the collar. Screw the collar on snug, not tight: over-tightening warps the seal and can change the flow.
Sip comes installed. If feeds look rushed, Drop is one step slower. The four flows
Step 2: After every feed
Take it apart. Wash it. Air-dry it.
- Take every part apartBottle, collar, nipple, cap, and the venting tube if you use it.
- Rinse under running waterEach part, before it goes in the basin.
- Wash in a basin, not the sinkUse a basin and bottle brush kept only for feeding items. Squeeze soapy water through the nipple hole, then rinse its small air hole and slit under warm running water.
- Air-dryOn a clean dish towel or paper towel. Don't towel-dry: rubbing can put germs back on a clean bottle.
- Dishwasher? Fine. Every Ronini part is top-rack safe. Small parts go in a closed basket.
- Nipples last longer when you hand-wash them, when you can.
- No bleach. No abrasive cleaners either.
Step 3: Sanitizing
Once a day, for now.
| Your baby | Wash | Sanitize |
|---|---|---|
| Under 2 months, born early, or with a weakened immune system | After every feed. Wash the basin and brush after every use too. | Once a day |
| 2 months or older, healthy, born full term | After every feed | Daily may not be needed, as long as you clean every part carefully. |
- Boil 5 minutes, fully under the water.
- Steam Electric or microwave steamer. Follow its instructions.
- Dishwasher Hot water with heated drying or a sanitize setting. A normal wash cleans but doesn't sanitize.
Step 4: Check before every feed
A quick look before every bottle.
- The glass
- Look for chips and cracks, every time, and closely after a drop. Cracked or chipped? Stop using it, even if the silicone wrap is still holding it together.
- The nipple
- Hold it up to the light and pull gently. Replace it if it's torn, thinning, sticky, swollen, discolored, misshapen, or flowing faster than when it was new. Torn nipples can break off and cause choking.
Step 5: Warming
Warm is optional.
Cold or room-temperature milk is fine if your baby takes it. Some babies just prefer it warm.
- Keep the bottle sealedStand it in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes.
- SwirlMixes the fat back into breast milk.
- Test on your wristA few drops on the inside of your wrist. Warm, not hot.
Never the microwave. It heats unevenly and leaves hot spots.
Glass doesn't like sudden temperature extremes. Warming at home a lot? The Glass Bottle has no wrap, so it warms faster.
Step 6: Storing clean parts
Dry first. Then put away.
Let every part dry fully, then store it somewhere clean and covered. Don't close damp parts in a container.
